Although it was plagued by mechanical errors to begin with and nearly lost its funding on several occaisions, the Hubble space telescope is currently sending back significant images of deep space to NASA. The most important discoveries of recent years, like Pluto being demoted from planet status can be attributed to the Hubble’s images. One problem for the Hubble and many satellites orbiting Earth is damage resutling from space junk. This is refuse left by shuttle missions or that has come off of other satellites and collides with satellites at extremely high speed.
